What i`ve been doing the last 6 weeks

Some people have asked me if i`ve started working yet. Nope!

The first 6 weeks of our 6 month internship is language training. So we`ve been going to a local school for the last 5 weeks. The language school is small, an average of about 14 students at any time. But its a really good set up, there are 12 or 13 teachers and each session is roughly 4 hours, one on one with a teacher. If you want, you can just have one teacher the whole time, but otherwise, you change teachers every day.

The teachers are really great, very patient, and also i find that they are a great source of information on anything about Bolivia, and about South American culture in general. I feel comfortable asking my teachers anything, and class isn`t always just about grammer, its really getting to know someone too, and I think i love that aspect of it most.

My school is run by a couple, a Bolivian and his Swiss wife. They are incredibly helpful with anything, and they`ve been doing a great job keeping tabs on the search for my suitcase, and they`ve helped us find an apartment, etc etc. Although, to be completely honest, both Tiana and I have had times where we were just like "why didn`t they do so-and-so??"....so they are really helpful, but you can`t rely on them completely. But if anyone is wanting to learn Spanish, or go somewhere where they can really practice it and enhance what they know already, i definately recommend this school, Escuela Runawasi! (www.runawasi.org)

We usually have class in the morning, then in the afternoon, we venture out into the city, or we just stay in our neighbourhood and spend a relaxing afternoon, or often in the evenings, the students plan to get together and go for drinks in the city. The other day, some students from Switzerland (for some reason, most of the students are from Switzerland) organized a fiesta at school. And that was a lot of fun, most of the teachers and students came, we ate, danced (Bolivians LOVE to dance), drank, conversed, and just had an absolutely fantastic time.

But finally, next week we will start our work! More on that when it starts.....
